McLaren are a fast growing, innovative construction and property business with over 800 group employees in the UK and UAE.

With disparate workforces on green and brown field sites across lots of locations, fast, reliable communications are key to their successful operation.

Traditionally, their communications strategy was based around telephony and Email but they realised that they needed better tools and became early adopters of OCS (now known as Skype for Business) to replace their PABX.

Over a small period the business has quickly grown from 100 employees to over 800.

With the business being that much larger than it once was, the IT infrastructure and its services needed to be refreshed to support the continual growth. The Skype for Business platform was a key part of this refresh and improved communication and collaboration tools were a vital element of this process.

At the same time externally, clients were demanding more video conferencing and collaboration as part of their day to day communications.

Solutions

McLaren needed a scalable solution and approached several parties who could work together and run the entire programme.

With their infrastructure based on Microsoft, MeetingZone recommended building on their existing Skype for Business investment, upgrading to a fully

hosted service for 750 users that could provide them with a “next generation” network, telephony and email platform.

“MeetingZone demonstrated their ability to work with other providers, deliver great service as well as train and support users to get the best individually from the investment”, Daniel added.

BENEFITS

Working closely with the network provider, the MeetingZone platform is delivering better call quality.

Mobile access has significantly improved. If people are on site with poor wifi access, it’s easy to use 4G so they have multiple options to access the network.

Project management and implementation has been owned and managed by MeetingZone.

“I’ve had to get involved very little, since MeetingZone took control from day one. They have a very responsive service desk and since the roll out of Attendant Pro, the number of enquiries has reduced significantly”, said Daniel.
